Motivation

Or lack thereof.

I'm dragging everyday. It seems that I've hit the summer blues here. I'm not a hot weather kind of gal and it's getting up towards triple digits.

Take my propensity for freckles/moles/precancerous lesions and the blistering sunlight, add in a backyard that is all pool, no shade, then sprinkle on a dash of sweat induced prickly heat: you end up with a cranky, kind of depressed, sloth like lump of me.

I really dislike having to be indoors so much, I dislike using air conditioning, but there is no other way to stay comfortable in this climate. I like being able to garden, hang out outside, go for walks, bike rides etc. If you want to do any of that here from May-Oct it has to be before 10 AM, sometimes 9.
It's pretty unbearable for close to six months out of the year. Then nice for about a month, then foggy for 4 months, then nice for one month. So out of twelve months, two are fairly nice.
Why people actually choose to live here with their own free will, it just escapes me.
I'm off to medicate my prickly heatish armpits.

Overheard

Girl: I'll be the mom and you be the dad.
Boy: I don't want to be the dad, I'm a turtle.
Girl: Hmm
Boy: I could be the turtle dad.
Girl: And I'll be lava!
Boy: And we'll be a family.
Girl: It'll be great.

I'm now envisioning a hapless turtle trying to outrace a lava flow.

Temporary Insanity

I might be called insane, but it's temporary insanity.
We are watching my nephews for 5 days. All 3 boys for 2 days then 2 boys for 3 more days.

So far I've realized that 4 is easier than 1. But 4 is also easier than 3. Although 3 is easier than 1.

The diad dynamic is great, they pair off and have lots of fun. Triads, not so much.

We've had a great time over the weekend, now back to the day to day grind of real life.

I hope these early risers sleep a bit more. Yesterday the wake up was 5:15, today a bit later.

I miss having my sleepy girl in the morning.

I'll be back after Wednesday when their mama and papa come pick them up.

Here are a few sneak peeks of fabrics I picked up in LA.

Nice eh?

Any favorites?
